What I Wish My Classmates Knew

I always want to be treated the same as everyone else. I don’t want special treatment—I just want to be treated fairly. I don’t want extra attention just because I wear cochlear implants.

Even though I experience the world differently, that doesn’t mean I want to be treated differently. I want people to think of me as a friend, not as someone who needs special treatment.

Being deaf doesn’t stop me from doing the things I love. I love playing soccer and trying new things, especially dangerous things. I don’t let being deaf stop me from doing anything!
